Kim Horne Taresco

Kim Horne Taresco, age 55, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018, after a long, courageous, battle with Diabetes. She was the daughter of Lonnie (Bun) and Nancy Landen of Roanoke Rapids, and the late Russell Horne.

Kim is, also, survived by her children, Derricke Allen and Shannon Allen; her brother, Steven Landen and his wife, Kelly, of Roanoke Rapids; and her nephew, Cam Gaylor.

Kim was a 1981 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, where she was a cheerleader, and voted "Friendliest" and "Best Personality" by her classmates. She had an infectious smile that would light up a room, and made everyone feel loved. Kim served as the Director of Boys and Girls Club of Halifax County for years, and touched the lives of many children, leaving behind a wonderful legacy of love and service to her community. She had a love for animals and wanted to rescue all of them. Kim was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids, where she served faithfully by sharing her love of Jesus and her church family with many children, parents, and families that did not have a church home.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 30, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 836 Roanoke Avenue, Roanoke Rapids, NC, with Dr. Bane Angles and Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.
